One thing that sets the tone at a gathering is the table setting. Whether it’s a wedding, dinner party for friends and family, new job celebration, or just a nice night at home, it can be worth taking a few extra minutes to pull out the placemats, some fresh flowers, and candle or two before going in on the meal. The attention to details can make a random Tuesday night dinner at home feel a little extra special, and it’s only Tuesday!
Interior designer, Jeremiah Brent and husband Nate Berkus understand every assignment they are given, and their tablescapes do not miss. It is difficult not to swoon over every episode of their design choices when they were on HGTV’s Rock the Block. Nothing will make you want to the South than every detail in their completed home (that screened in front porch! Mosquitoes, where??). After living in Los Angeles for a number of years, the two returned to where they met in NYC, recently re-purchasing the first place they called home together – where their daughter Poppy was brought home from the hospital. Now with their sweet son Oskar around, the family of four is complete and truly at home. Talk about a gay fairytale!
Jeremiah recently opened his storefront, Atrio, where he inspires people to elevate the things in their everyday lives- “from pantry staples to furniture.” He shared an Instagram video where he styled a very simple winter tablescape with items from Atrio, so we at Modern Mae Studio decided to scour the dining section for some of our favorites. Though qw appreciate and respect the vibrancy that warm and cool colors bring to a space, our aesthetic is a more muted, neutral, moody vibe. Give us a backdrop of black with stone and natural linen any day of the week. Add plants and greenery for a pop of color is chef’s kiss!
If you are considering a neutral tablescape for your next gathering, check out Atrio. If you are too overwhelmed by all the beauty, start with one item that feels special to you that you will use over and over, not allowing it to collect dust behind a cabinet door. Maybe it’s a new set of water glasses or these sweet linen coasters. Let yourself be inspired then decorate your way!
Jeremiah and his husband Nate’s new season of The Nate and Jeremiah Home Project: Season II premieres February 22nd at 9PM EST on HGTV and Discovery Plus. Season I is streaming now on Discover+.
